As part of the Christmas Hampers that Nowra City Church distributed to 300 families around the Shoalhaven at Christmas 2011, we also sent 100 care packs to Aussie Soldiers serving overseas. This week we received three thank you letters. The names have been removed for obvious reasons. Photo is of the team who packed the hampers and care packs.
Letter 1
Dear Peter Pilt & Nowra City Church
My name is Corporal ______ and I am the Squadron Quatermaster here in Timor-Leste. I wanted to write a short letter to let you know that your care package arrived here and was received with the utmost appreciation and gratitude. Additionally, all my Staff would also like to pass on their appreciation for the goodies you have sent, thankyou.
Also, could you please pass on our very best wishes to all the people in the church that put in the time and effort that wrote us Christmas cards and letters. It’s been an overwhelming gesture especially this time of year to receive a little reminder from home but more amazing is the support shown by the Australian general public.
Unfortunately this Christmas, many of the Australian Defence Force will be separated from their families, me included, however it’s comforting to know that we have the support from family, friends and the Australian people.
I would also like to take this opportunity to pass on my very best wishes and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, all of the Nowra City Church.
Letter 2
Dear Sir/Ma’am and members of the Nowra City Church
I am writing to thank you for the care packages that you sent to the Australian Defence Force over the Christmas period. My name is Corporal ________ and as chance would have it I grew up in North Nowra before joining the Army.
The support from home is much appreciated over this time, as all of us would rather be home with family and loved ones, however we have a job to do here and care packages such as the ones you sent bring a small piece of home to us.
Thank you once again and best wishes for 2012.
Letter 3
Dear Nowra City Church
From the Headquarters Branch of the CSST in East Timor, we wish to thankyou for all the thoughtful gifts you have sent to us for Christmas. We appreciate all the support and good wishes you are sending to us, and all the troops that are away from home this Christmas.
We would like to wish you and all your family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
