Powerful Keys to Live an Inspired Life and an Inspiring Life

I love the concept of being radically enthusiastic in life. I love where the word ENTHUSIASM comes from. It comes from a Greek word – Entheos – and was first used by people as a critical word for Christians. Entheos when you break it down is

En – in

Theos – God

The literal translation of Entheos is:-God in you – or possessed by a God. It was meant as a criticism but actually summed up perfectly how Christians should live. They should live like they are possessed by a God.

Similarly, the word Inspire which comes from the verb inspirare, which means to blow into or upon; to breath into, formed by the verb spirare «to breath»

So the concept of being inspiring – is the idea that my life would breath life into yours.

Or if I am being inspired by someone – their life is breathing into my life.

The history of the word is that it was used of someone of supposed divine power or influence: being of such surpassing excellence as to suggest inspiration by the gods; That the person was living under the very breath of the Almighty.

Brilliant.

How much does inspiration really matter?

Studies show there is a  40% differential between people who are inspired & those who aren’t

Motivation matters but whose job is it to motivate or inspire leaders?

1 Samuel  30:6

6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

David encouraged himself in God. He inspired him and allowed God’s breath in inspirate him.

Good commitment to make:- I am never going to blame someone else for my lack of inspiration

So here are some keys to stay motivated and inspired

1) Stay full of the Holy Spirit

The word comes from the same root that gives us the word “spirit.”

To be in-spired is to have some Spirit in you, motivating you, driving you.

So walk always in the Spirit

2) Stay Crystal clear about your call from God

3) Make sure you are leveraging your spiritual gifts to stay in your strength

4) Make sure the players on your team are inspiring people

5) Read inspiring books

6) Hang out with inspiring people

Really watch who you spend your down time with

7) Participate in exceptionally inspiring events

8) Pay attention to physical disciplines

What you eat

Your Exercise

Getting enough sleep

9) Watch your words –

I feel… most depressing thoughts start with “I feel” follow by tired, or worn out , or depressed… snap out of it by changing what you say

Ban these statements:-

  • I am tired
  • I am worn out
  • I don’t have the energy

10) Watch inspiring movies and clips etc

11) Pay attention to your work environment

Does your office environment inspire you.

12) Have an inspiring recreational pursuit outside of work

13) Practicing daily spiritual disciplines

What’s the best way to inspire those around you?

1) Live an inspired life – this is the key

2) Connect everyone you lead to a compelling cause

3) Identify & reduce every demotivating factor in people’s environment

4) Celebrate every sign of progress toward your goals

What would a church look like if it was filled completely with inspired people

Acts 2:42:47

42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church[a] daily those who were being saved.
