Nowra City Church has a strong social justice and missions heart and this is shown through its annual missions offering known as the Imagine Offering. This year we are calling the Imaging Offering – iProject. In this blog is the Promo Video and then a briefing on each of the 17 Projects.

My iProject Statement
I believe the purpose of Nowra City Church’s Imagine day is and always will be, to restore the dignity to those who don’t have any.
I believe with all of my heart that Jesus has called us to respond to an opportunity to establish the kingdom of heaven right here on this earth, to never be a people, who wait to go to heaven one day, but rather look around and affect the world around us, by bringing heaven to it.
Jesus called us to this opportunity, he called us to an opportunity to know him. In Jewish culture, to know God was directly defined by how you treated other people, particularly people who couldn’t do anything for you in return.
Jeremiah 22:16 says when you take care of the poor and the afflicted, it will go well for you, and this is what it means to know me declares the Lord your God. That is the only scripture in the whole bible that I know of, that defines what it means to know God, to live a life for the betterment of others, to treat someone who cant do anything in return for you with dignity and respect and honor and make their life better.
2 billion people are living on less than $2 a day, according to the world health organisation, 16,900 people are going to die today from starvation, what does your refrigerator look like? could you feed one?
The leading cause of blindness in the world is dirty water, something that is easily fixed by simply to stop spending money on ice cream. Last year in America they spent enough on ice cream and cosmetics to put clean water and sewage in the entire world, what are we doing, and how will we respond?
When Jesus talks about heaven he talks about heaven being an environment where what we use of what God gave us to make other peoples lives better will be celebrated and multiplied, but what he gave us that we choose to bury in the earth, that will be given to someone else. Its not that He’s mad at us, just that there’s a kingdom to be established.
God has not withheld the resources to fix this world. According to Forbes magazine, the richest 400 people in the world are worth 1.27 trillion dollars, more than enough money to put clean water and sewage in the world, more than enough to vaccinate the world, more than enough money to educate the world, more than enough to start the perpetual production of food to end world hunger and still leave them all billionaires.
If thats what the top 400 could do, what could the top 400 thousand do, what could the top 4 million do, what could the top 10 million, what could the top 700 million do?
If you own a car, you are in the richest 700 million people in the whole world.
I’m asking you to respond to an opportunity to make other people lives better, to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, bring sight to the blind, bring freedom and dignity to prisoners.
I’m asking you, to respond today to iProject twenty thirteen, to be brave enough, to ask God what can I do with what you’ve given me?
Thank you
