Peter Pilt Declaring a Blessing Over Your 2015

Every year as the Senior Pastor of Nowra City Church, I speak a blessing over the congregation of the church: I blog the blessing so not only do people of the NCC Faith Community have a copy, but also my social media friends can read it and the declared blessing can be spoken over their lives too.

This year is the International Year of Light. Thus the light globe on the Harbor Bridge during the New Years Eve Fireworks. We are looking at Theology in Pop Culture this Month at Nowra City Church, so it’s fitting that the seed for this blessing came from an iconic Australian Cultural Event.

The basis of this blessing is found in these two scriptures….

Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

John 8:12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world;

Blessing:

When it comes to the International Year of Light, Jesus declares in John 8:12 that He is the Light of the World. He also said earlier in Matt 5:14 “That we are the light of the world” and that we are to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

So this being the International Year of Light, I bless your relationship with the light of the world….Jesus Christ. May you know Him in a deeper way this year and may this increased intimacy cause an increase in the luminescence of you being the light of the world.

I bless you with the wisdom to make right choices this year so that you “let your light shine”.

I bless you with authority and victory over the devourer who would seek to put your light under a basket….rendering you an ineffective, luke warm dwindling weak light.

Instead I speak redemptive power into your faith. As the scripture says that your light would cause people to glorify God: may you be an influencer for the Kingdom of God, partnering with the Holy Spirit to redeem mankind.

The scripture also says that as your light and life shines, people would see your good works….so I bless your heart in 2015….may you have a greater heart to serve and a greater focus on others this year, may God give you opportunities for good works and may these good works be used by Him to bring Glory to his name.

The scripture goes on and say: “nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” I speak blessing over your house in 2015. May your year be a year of harvest, happiness and health. When hard times do come, may you be sustained by your faith, strengthen by the presence of God and supported by loyal friendships.

As the year draws to a close, my heart in speaking life and blessing over your year is that you will look back over 2015 and see the hand of God over your life, guiding, directing and protecting. And that you also conclude that the light of world has shone brightly through your life impacting others of the Kingdom of God.

I bless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
