Two words that are your game changer – But God.

I think the two words “But God” are a game changer. They are two words  that speak that the impossible is possible. Regardless of the enormity of the situation you face, regardless of how bleak it looks or the magnitude of the problem – faith says there is a But God.  Again and again, history reveals God entering into our world and making our impossible situations possible. Over and over the phrase “But God” appears in the bible, confirming that God never deserts us. He overcomes our short comings, produces victory from defeat and unveils himself to us in ways we could never imagine.

What the words But God indicate – is that – God is bigger than any problem you or I will ever face. The bible in John 4:4 says:- He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Isn’t it interesting though, that when our problems get bigger – it  seems that God gets smaller. And when things go bad we wonder why God let them happen. Bad things happen from time to time – But God is able to reverse them. The danger is that when problems seems impossible, panic can torment us – And we can forget that God can do the impossible;

Jeremiah says in 2:32 – My People forget me.

When problems hijack our agenda and hijack our faith, its easy to believe they are more powerful than God and we forget God.

Is 51:13 says “You’ve forgotten me, God who made you….

I love the song by Regina Spektor – Laughing with God – Here are the first section of Lyrics

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late
And their kid’s not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken

No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood

The reason no one laughs at God in these situations is because – in times of crisis – we need a But God. We need to believe that somehow God will intervene and change the situation. I come across people from time to time who mock God, laughing at Him and mocking the people, like me who have a faith. Interesting though, I don’t find people laughing at God at a funeral, I don’t find people laughing at God in hospitals as their love ones are terminally ill.

Maybe you are facing a situation right now, that needs a But God. A situation that desperately requires immediate Divine Intervention. So you can say – I had this issue in my life and it was looking dire, But God……

I would encourage you to remember God. God is able. At Nowra City Church we have a Prayer Pastor and Prayer team who will stand with you in prayer. Text your prayer request to 0402 772937. This is open to anyone not just Nowra City Church people.

But God. Two words that are YOUR  game changer.
